    PLAYING CARDS WITH NAN & PA - The story of 17 Parkland

    Cathy and Tony had been living in Montreal North for 20 years before deciding to move out to Pointe-Claire for an easier commute. For eight of those years, they lived in a duplex upstairs from her parents.

    "It was the best of times, especially for our two sons who benefitted from having their grandparents in their lives," she remembers fondly, "So many card games with Nan and Pa. So many great memories."

    They didn't know very much about the neighbourhood when they first discovered this home on Parkland. Just that Tony's siblings lived in the West Island and loved it. The street name sounded too good to be true, but when they saw it they understood why.

    "Driving around Pointe-Claire, we discovered this cute home sitting on a huge 11,000 sq.ft. piece of land. As soon as we stepped inside we knew it just felt right."

    Located on a child-safe crescent, this bungalow has beautiful strip wood floors, 3+1 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom. The recently renovated basement is open and bright, and the backyard is huge.

    "I recall when we first walked through the front door there was a fireplace on the left side of the living room" Cathy says, "Tony insisted that it was on the right. We made a bet and I still owe him $10.00."

    There are many fond memories of family gatherings, Christmas celebrations and backyard BBQs.

    "Just having my parents (our sons' Nan and Pa), over to continue our card games has also been among my favourite memories of living here."

    When asked about their favourite part of the home Cathy answered without hesitation.

    "I would have to say it is the pleasure of sitting out on the deck with a cup of coffee in the morning, surrounded by mature trees and listening to the birds as they start their day. And then again, sitting out in the evening with a glass of wine watching the sunset through the trees and hearing the birds say goodnight."

    Their only wish for 17 Parkland is that the new owners will continue to take care of this wonderful home, while filling it with lasting memories and good times of their own. --
